'Affects, Political Imagination and Social Media in Times Social Unrest'
ABSTRACT
"This paper will describe five days of protests in Colombia and the paradoxical role that social media played in it, with the intention to reflect on the different temporalities, affects, and possibilities for political imagination that are at stake in times of social unrest. If one surveillance capitalism's operations consist of challenging the individual's right to imagine the future by imposing from above a collective order based on total certainty, in this essay, I want to think about the possibility of rejecting that certainty collectively. It is an attempt to capture the revolutionary now, that "small non-time-space" where thought emerges from experience and through practice, that gap of possibility of the not yet here, the Pachakuti."
